We always bring you new spins on chaga tea. This one is for the chaga tea lover wanting to treat themselves. The last few weeks have allowed us to experiment with different flavour combinations and ingredients. This chocolate + chaga combination is for the weekend warrior.
Did you know Ecuador is highly prized for their chocolate and is now known today for the top Latin America exporter of chocolate? It has recently Brazil as the top exporter. We've recently travelled to Ecuador where we bought some of these wonderful chocolates and cocoa products.
There's a small shop on the Pacific Coast of Ecuador in the town of Puerto Lopez where a small family of expat live and run Pacha Chocolates. The shop is dedicated to making high quality artisanal organic chocolates. We are using some of their powdered cocoa for today's recipe. Here's what you'll need.
Vegan & Gluten-Free Chaga Hot Chocolate.
- 1 cup of freshly brewed Cha-Cha Chaga Tea
- 1 cup of milk of your choice
- 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon of coconut oil or MCT oil
- 1 tablespoon of maple syrup (why not, eh?🍁)
- 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla
- A blender is not required but makes the process much easier. You can also use a small whisk.
Brew your chaga tea as you normally do. We like to let ours brew for around 10 minutes to make sure we get all the good stuff. During this time, warm-up your milk and cocoa powder in a small pan on the cooktop.
Once these have done their thing put them in a blender (make sure to remove the teabag) along with your other ingredients. Blend together for about 30 seconds! That's it, you're ready to enjoy!
