Will Chaga Tea Keep You Awake

Will Chaga Tea Keep You Awake

We all like to have a good night's sleep and to wake up energized and well-rested. Discussions surrounding bedtimes routines have now gained popularity. Reducing computer or smartphone screentime to exercise and eating/drinking habits all affect our sleep in different ways.

Is chaga tea good for sleep? Well, what is key to getting a good night's sleep is to get your body and mind in the right mindset to relax and let go. Many like the routine of drinking herbal teas to promote relaxation prior to bedtime. For centuries, chamomile and peppermint herbs have been taken in hot water to promote relaxation which is why some of these ingredients can be found in herbal tea blends.

If you want to try relaxing with a book and a cup of tea here are some things to consider. Stay away from green and black teas! According to the Journal of Food Science 8 ounces of water with two grams of green tea leaves can contain 12 to 75 milligrams of caffeine while black tea could contain between 40 to 120 milligrams of caffeine. Taking caffeine prior to bedtime and sometimes in the afternoon can work in the direct opposite of what you want to accomplish. Caffeine is a stimulant and can promote alertness and can last for 3-5 hours while some small amounts stay in your body for even longer. Avoid these at all costs!

But what about chaga tea? Will chaga tea keep you awake after drinking it? This would obviously depend if you are drinking a chaga tea blend or pure chaga. Many companies are selling "chaga" teas that generally contain a list of ingredients including sugar, stevia or vanilla extracts. These are often blended with Pu'erh, green or black tea leaves. Try to stay clear of these in the afternoon or around bedtime. A study from the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine has found that drinking caffeine-rich drinks up to 6 hours before hitting the pillow can reduce the total sleep time by 1 hour.

You'll be happy to hear that our Cha-Cha Chaga tea contains no caffeine, stevia or sugars. It's pure chaga goodness in a cup! Although we are all different and our bodies react in different ways chaga tea shouldn't be one that keeps you awake. It could even have powerful and beneficial side effects including a high antioxidant count which can help fight and protect cells against the oxidative effects of free radicals. Chaga mushroom tea is also a source of fungal polysaccharides.

Can you drink chaga tea before bedtime? Yes, you can, there's no research showing chaga tea would keep you awake. So, shut that TV off, leave the phone alone, grab a book and sip your Cha-Cha Chaga tea.
